Ceremony in Tokyo – Distinctions „Meritorious for Polish Culture” awarded

On 19th August 2022 the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Japan Paweł Miszewski conveyed the distinctions Meritorious for Polish Culture to Mr Yamaguchi Kazuo and Ichibei Iwano IX for their donation of the original Japanese papermaking workshop including the altar of the paper goddess Kawakami Gozen and the vast collection of the Japanese washi sheets, to the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój.

The distinctions were awarded by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and National Heritage Prof. Piotr Gliński, on application by the director of the museum Maciej Szymczyk. The ceremony took place in the Polish Embassy in Tokyo, and in the name of Mr Yamaguchi Kazuo and Ichibei Iwano, the distinctions were collected by their sons.
