Collection conservation and digitisation

The preservation of and access to cultural heritage is one of the basic tasks of museum institutions. Therefore, we have also planned the conservation and digitisation of chosen pieces within the project.

First and foremost, it is necessary to preserve the original museum collections as long as possible. 312 objects, including identification documents (e.g. passport in Russian from 1986), letterpress plates, postcards from Duszniki-Zdrój and other documents will undergo conservation works.

The guarantee of the colletion preservation for the future generations is its most faithful record in digital form reffered to as digitisation. Currently, it is one of the priorities appointed by the European Union and national institutions.

Due to Norway and EEA Grants, we have already purchased photographic equipment which will enable graduał digitisation of the museum collections. Within the duration of the project, we expect to digitise 418 museum pieces, including historic sheets with the filigrees of different paper mills (even from the end of 16th century), ornamental sheets, paper templates, passports, bookplates, postcards from Duszniki-Zdrój, paper properties investigating machines, machines and large appliances.

The pictures of museum pieces will be presented on our website, some of them in the form of 360o presentation. It will enable everyone interested to access the Museum of Papermaking collections regardless of the availability and without the necessity of coming to Duszniki.
