The last reconstruction stage of the drying room is complete!
The reconstruction of the interiors of an old paper drying facility, constituting ca. half of the historical complex of paper mill in Duszniki-Zdrój was completed. It cost nearly PLN 3 million. At the same time, the adaptation of reconstructed rooms is conducted. Among others, new exhibition and educational rooms and collection warehouse are under construction in the drying plant.
The reconstruction of the drying room was a long-term task. In 2013 PLN 991,815.82 was spent on its performance, including: 650,000.00 from the funds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the scope of the Operational Program Development of culture Infrastructure, priority: Culture infrastructure as well as PLN 70,643.00 from the funds of the Budget of the Province of Lower Silesia. “Reconstruction (…) – Stage III” is the next step towards adaptation of the drying facility building for the exhibition, educational and storage needs of the Museum of Papermaking. This is a part of a large number of investments the aim of which is to increase the level of availability of the historical complex of the paper mill. The completion of this stage means the change of function of usable drying facility rooms, e.g. with acquisition of new surfaces by means of reconstruction. The adaptation will be completed in 2016 within the project Upgrade and adaptation of the historic drying facility for cultural purposes as well as fire protection of the Museum of Papermaking complex in Duszniki-Zdrój, along with the maintenance and digitisation of Museum collections, for which the Museum obtained co-financing from the funds of the Operational Program “Conservation and revitalisation of cultural heritage” in the scope of the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 as well as Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014.
